A is for Alopecia

A is for Alopecia.

So, what’s alopecia? What does it mean?

We spoke to our Trichologist, Stephanie Sey, about the condition…

The word alopecia sounds quite ominous when you hear it used, however, alopecia simply means:

‘The partial or complete absence of hair from areas of the body where it normally grows; baldness’.

It’s common for people when they’re suffering from a hair loss condition to simply say: –

“I think I’m suffering from Alopecia”.

This is somewhat correct, however, that only describes that there’s hair loss, not the cause of it.

There are many different types of alopecia and each of these conditions has a different aetiology and prognosis.

If you notice that you’re suffering from alopecia, be sure to seek professional help to make sure you get the right diagnosis and the right treatment for your condition.
