A new study has found that pain and itching could signal skin cancer. Researchers examined the correlation betweeen paid and itch in 268 patients diagnosed with skin cancer.
The research team found that nearly 40 percent of skin cancer lesions had accompanying itching and 30 percent involved some form of pain.
The research team from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia found that nonmelanoma skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, were more likely than melanoma to involve itch or pain. Pain was more common in squamous cell carcinoma.
